Dear Customer,
texdev GmbH is recalling the product “convertiger 100” as a precaution.
Affected are the item numbers TEX4216 and TEX4218, sold since September 2023.
Why we are informing you
Smoke development up to the formation of flames has been observed in individual devices. According to current knowledge, an internal short circuit can occur even without connected loads. This poses a fire hazard.
Important safety measure – please implement immediately
- Disconnect the product from power immediately (e.g. pull the fuse / disconnect the circuit)
- Do not continue to operate the device
- Do not leave the vehicle unattended until the device has been taken out of service
- If the product has been resold or passed on together with a vehicle, we ask you to contact the owner immediately!
What we are doing for you
We are currently organizing a free remedy in the form of an exchange for a successor product.
For the specific handling, we will get in touch with you by 31.1.2026 at the latest with details on the options. We kindly ask for your patience so that the processes can be organized properly.

Information on the Remedial Action
convertiger 100 recall – remedial action and exchange
29.01.2026
Dear Customers,
as announced, we are informing you today about the remedial action as part of the convertiger 100 recall.
Exchange for the successor model
As part of the recall, your affected device will be exchanged for the new successor model, which was already presented in the summer. This is not a revision but a complete redevelopment, implemented by a different development team with a new technical architecture and new suppliers.
The successor model deliberately keeps the familiar Inprojal/Berker form factor and thus continues to fit into the existing design language. Outwardly, you will see no change in the end result.
Technical improvements (upgrade)
With the successor model you get a technical upgrade over the previous device, including:
- tool-free electrical connection via convenient lever clamps
- new electronics architecture with a modern protocol chip
- support for the PPS function (Programmable Power Supply) for improved compatibility with current end devices
- extended voltage display that now also shows intermediate steps and makes the voltage levels negotiated via PPS visible
You are thus among the first users to receive this new product – even before it comes to market regularly in the summer.
What happens next – simple & uncomplicated
No action is required on your part:
- The replacement device will be sent to you automatically (either directly by us or via the dealer from whom you bought the product).
- Returning the old device is not required.
- The old device can be disposed of properly on site as household electronic waste.
Please make sure the old device is no longer operated.
Schedule
Current planning foresees the arrival of the first replacement batches in mid to late March. Taking shipping and customs processes into account, we expect the exchange to be completed for all affected customers during the course of April.
We will inform you in good time about the specific shipping date.
Thank you for your patience
We expressly thank you for your patience and your responsible behavior. With the exchange we make sure that you receive not only a safe but also a technically much more advanced product.
Kind regards,
Your tigerexped team

FAQ on the Safety Recall by texdev GmbH
Yes. All convertiger 100 devices are affected by the recall as a precaution, even if the item number on your invoice differs from the number given in the recall notice.
Why do the item numbers differ?
In product recalls, the manufacturer is legally required to state the manufacturer item number. This is necessary because dealers often work with their own item numbers or combination items.
The item number given in the recall notice is therefore the manufacturer’s item number. It is usually found on the packaging or on the product itself.
Why can the item number on my invoice be different?
Differing item numbers on invoices are normal, for example when:
• the convertiger 100 was sold through a dealer with its own numbering system, or
• the device was purchased in combination (e.g. with different frames or sets).
What does this mean in practice?
Regardless of the item number stated on the invoice:
Every convertiger 100 device is affected by the recall and must be taken out of operation or disconnected from power immediately.
Further handling is done by the dealer from whom the product was bought. They will get in touch with you about the next steps.
Further information will follow as soon as possible, at the latest by January 31.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and patience.

Thank you for your understanding and your support.
As a dealer, we stand every day between manufacturers, partners and our customers.
We sell products and we put our name behind them.
That is exactly why it is important to us to explain openly why a recall is right even when many devices work perfectly normally.
Product safety does not mean reacting only when damage becomes publicly visible.
It means taking risks seriously before they escalate.
When a risk cannot be safely ruled out and the potential extent of damage is high,
waiting is not a responsible option.
Legal requirements oblige manufacturers to name the theoretical worst case.
Terms such as fire hazard therefore describe the maximum risk – not everyday reality.
A recall is not pleasant for anyone.
It costs time, money and nerves – for us as a dealer too.
Nevertheless, we consider this step to be the right one.
It protects customers, relieves partners and prevents greater damage.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
The most important thing first: all convertiger 100 devices are affected as a precaution and must be taken out of operation immediately.
Work is currently under way at full speed on the further procedure.
The dealer from whom you bought the product will get in touch with you directly shortly and discuss the further handling with you.
The specific organization takes some time. We therefore ask you for a little more patience. Further information will follow by 31.01.2026 at the latest.
Thank you very much for your patience, and please excuse the inconvenience.
Dealers use the contact details stored when the device was ordered to inform customers.
Please first check that the email address used is correct, and also check your spam or junk folder.
If your contact details have changed since the purchase or you are unsure, we recommend actively contacting your dealer and letting them know your current contact details.
Please understand that organizing a recall like this with many parties involved is extensive, and that contact and further updates may take some time.
You should receive concrete information on the further handling by January 31 at the latest.
Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.
We fully understand that the precautionary recall of the convertiger 100 involves considerable restrictions and uncertainty for many of those affected.
It is important to us to communicate openly and realistically here:
The recall is carried out for product safety reasons. At the moment, the replacement devices are not yet available, so we cannot offer any preferential or accelerated individual handling, even though we can understand the circumstances described very well on a human level. As things stand today, the exchange of the devices is expected to be completed for all customers during the course of April.
Until then, we ask you to keep the convertiger 100 disconnected from power and not to operate it. Even though this situation is very unpleasant, taking the device out of service is for your own safety.
We thank you for your patience and understanding in this challenging situation for everyone involved.
In principle, we would like to put this into context as follows:
Noticeable warming of the device can occur in normal operation and depends on the power currently being delivered.
The convertiger 100 is designed for such operating temperatures, even if the device may feel warmer to the touch than you would subjectively expect.
According to current knowledge, functional failures or complete non-functioning are not among the typical signs on which the current recall is based.
The vast majority of the affected devices continue to work normally.
The precautionary recall is not based on a clear, reproducible malfunction in operation, but on a risk assessment in which a certain scenario cannot be safely ruled out.
A clear assignment of individual symptoms to a specific cause is currently not possible. In particular, observed effects such as temperature behavior, communication problems or sporadic anomalies cannot be reliably attributed to a specific fault pattern.
Regardless of this:
Please do not continue to operate the convertiger 100 in the context of the recall and leave it disconnected from power until the further steps are announced.
Thank you very much for your understanding and patience.
Cable Recommendation for Using convertiger 100
For full charging power, use a USB-C to USB-C cable that meets the following criteria:
USB-PD certified with 5 A / 100 W current rating.
as short as possible (ideally under 1 m) and sufficiently thick — cables that are too long or too thin cause voltage drop and can disrupt the power negotiation
With the following cable types, compatibility problems can occur due to very inconsistent implementations on the market:
- Magnetic charging adapters and proprietary charging cables (e.g. Apple MagSafe) — here not all USB-C pins are routed magnetically, the negotiation is emulated by electronics in the cable and in part deviates from the USB-PD specification
- Charging cables with an integrated voltage trigger (e.g. in some Starlink configurations) that supply the end device with a fixed 20 V instead of negotiating normally
Such cables may work, but do not have to. If you have problems, please test with a standard USB-C cable first.
