A new product is bringing joy to many auxiliary heater owners and prospective buyers right at the start of 2025. Dual control, meaning operating the heater from two control panels, is finally officially possible with a small upgrade.
Bye-Bye Emergency Switch Input and Y-Cable
Anyone who has been looking for a way to control their auxiliary heater from two different places, for example from the seating area or bed and from the cab, has had a hard time so far. Now and then you came across questionable advice involving Y-cables, which did the heater no favors.
Using the emergency switch input was better. Properly done, it lets you at least switch the heater on and off with a remote control (e.g. from a garage door opener) (more on this in our article Connecting a Second Control Panel to an Autoterm Auxiliary Heater).
With the Push Control there is now an official option from the manufacturer to control your auxiliary heater from a second location, greatly increasing ease of use with a small upgrade.
Autoterm Push Control – How It Works
The Autoterm Push Control is a compact and easy-to-use switch for the heater’s basic functions. Operation is super simple: pressing it once or several times is all it takes.
The small switch can be used as the heater’s only control panel, or combined with the Autoterm Comfort Control for dual control.
Depending on the heater, it offers different operating modes.
Push Control Operating Modes for Air Heaters
The Push Control’s default operating mode is power mode.
By pressing the switch, you can choose between five fixed power levels. The color of the LED ring shows which power level the heater is currently in.
Besides power mode, the Push Control can also work in a temperature mode, but this requires an external temperature sensor.
By pressing the button once or several times, you can reach and hold a temperature of 18, 21 or 25 degrees, or select “maximum power” as the highest level. Here too, the LED ring shows the selected level by color.

Important to know:
Two control panels cannot share one external temperature sensor. If a Comfort Control is already running with an external temperature sensor, temperature control via the Push Control needs its own sensor.
Operating Modes for Water Heaters
For water heaters, the Push Control provides a preheating mode.
The heater runs until a certain coolant temperature is reached, then the burner switches off. The heater starts again when the temperature drops.
With this function you can choose between a run time for the heater limited to two hours or continuous operation.
Which Heater Models Is the Push Control Compatible With
The Push Control is suitable for the Autoterm heaters Air 2D, 4D, 8D, 9D as well as the Autoterm Flow 5D, 5B, 14D.
For compatibility with older models (which may even still be called Planar), you can contact our support with the serial number, and we will clarify it with the manufacturer for you.
Installing the Push Control
The Push Control is simple to install. It comes in a plug-and-play design with a supplied control module and connecting cable for quick and easy integration.
The switch is available in two versions:
Push Control S with 6mm thread and Molex connector
Push Control L with 12mm thread and round connector

The Push Control’s housing is made of stainless steel with IP67 protection rating, making the switch waterproof and safe and durable even under extreme conditions.
Connecting the cables is just as simple, as you can easily see from the following diagram.
