Building your own camper furniture is not that easy. Not only does everything have to be sturdy enough not to work loose under constant vibration – vehicles also have plenty of curves and angles, and the vehicle shape and other build-out components have to be coordinated as well as possible to optimize space.
With STECK + WEG, even non-carpenters can achieve custom camper furniture that is guaranteed to look professional.
BUILDING CAMPER FURNITURE WITH STECK + WEG – HOW DOES IT WORK
The system makes furniture building almost as easy as Lego. The modular kit contains various aluminum profiles plus a large range of different system connectors. From these simple elements you can build a basic frame for your own camper furniture.
Cut the profiles to the right lengths, plug the parts together – done.
Anything is possible: around wheel arches, straight, around the corner or with different heights. Connectors in all kinds of variants leave no corner unused. The kit range extends from simple 2D L-connectors to multi-way 3D corner connectors and individually adjustable angle connectors.

Once the carcass is assembled, all that’s missing are panels and doors of your choice.
Which Material Can I Choose as Cladding for STECK + WEG
The surfaces of the STECK + WEG camper furniture building system can be clad with real wood, plywood, aluminum composite (Aludibond) or other materials – depending on your personal taste. Specially positioned support surfaces mean you don’t have to limit yourself to one particular material thickness.
On one side of the profiles you can work with material thicknesses of 14 – 17 mm. Ideal for really beautiful wood that creates a cozy vanlife feel. By using the profiles the other way around, you get an optimal support surface for 3 – 4 mm material thickness. Perfect for lightweight construction that is simple and stylish.
So whether rustic or with bright, colorful furniture panels – your taste decides.

What Else Do I Need?
To finish your DIY furniture, in addition to the aluminum rails and system connectors you will need the following:
- Furniture panels for fronts, shelves, worktop. As mentioned, you can let your imagination run free here.
- Latches and hinges for doors, if desired
- possibly sealant or paint as a finish for wood
- Drawers or boxes, if you want to equip your furniture with them.
Do I Need to Buy Extra Tools for Furniture Building?
STECK + WEG is designed to make things as easy as possible for you. You need little more than a drill / cordless screwdriver. Also a good saw to cut the aluminum rails to the right lengths.
You may be able to have rectangular panels for your camper furniture cut to size when you order them. Thanks to the system connectors, your surfaces automatically get proper 90-degree angles, so you don’t have to be hellishly careful while building to keep everything from ending up crooked.
Furniture Building in Motorhomes and Campers – Custom and Clever
Building your own furniture in a motorhome gives you maximum individuality. But individual also means that you can – and must – plan your own tailor-made build-out. Even though we otherwise like to offer kits and all-round worry-free packages, this system is about individuality and creative freedom. That is why we have no ready-made kits or one-size-fits-all solutions for vehicle XY here.
So: grab the tape measure, sharpen your pencil and enjoy the planning!

One more tip: To fasten 14-17mm furniture panels, screwing / gluing / riveting to 2 webs is enough. Thin materials (aluminum composite etc.) should be fastened to 4 webs if possible.
